· Most definitely! You can help make sure that you and your baby will be as healthy as possible by following some simple guidelines and checking in regularly with your provider. · At your initial office visit Dr. Thompson will talk with you about your medical history and how you’ve been feeling. You will be weighed and have your blood pressure taken. You will also speak to one of our billing specialists regarding the type of insurance you have and your OB coverage. If you have a deductible, payment arrangements will be made to have your balance paid in full before you deliver. · If you are accepted as a low-risk pregnancy, Dr. Thompson will want to see you again in about two weeks for a pelvic exam and a pap smear. You will also need lab work done including blood tests and a urinalysis. At each subsequent visit you will need to leave a urine sample to check for protein and amount of sugar in your system. · For the first 28 weeks of your pregnancy you will be seen every four weeks. From 28-36 weeks Dr. Thompson will want to see you every two weeks. From 36 weeks until you deliver Dr. Thompson will want to see you every week.
